Discussion Questions
1. Connect – Who Am I Apart from What I Do?
The sermon began by asking: “Who are you apart from what you do?” How would you answer that question right now? How much of your identity is tied to your work, family role, or accomplishments?
2. Dig Deeper – Apprenticeship as Presence
Jesus’ invitation was not first to do things but to be with Him. Read Matthew 11:28–30. What does it mean to you personally that Jesus invites us to rest in Him rather than achieve for Him?
3. Personal Application – Making Your Home in Jesus
John 15 speaks of abiding in Jesus, making our home in Him. Where does your mind naturally “go home” when it is tired, stressed, or idle? What would it look like to let Jesus be your safe and steady home this week?
4. Community Application – Walking Dusty Together
Apprentices in Jesus’ day wanted to be “covered in the dust of their rabbi” by walking closely with Him. How can our group walk closely with Jesus together? What practices (prayer, Scripture, gratitude, silence) could we commit to as a community to help us abide in Him?
Closing
Invite each person to share one step they will take this week to practice being with Jesus (not just doing for Him). Close in prayer, thanking Jesus for already making His home in us.
