Key Themes
Apprenticeship with Jesus – Christianity is not just a title but a way of life.
Becoming Like Jesus – What we give attention to shapes who we become.
Passive Formation – God’s grace is already at work pruning, shaping, and reforming us.
Active Response – We are called to remain, abide, and cooperate with the Spirit’s work.
Identity in Christ – Transformation flows from living as God’s beloved children.
Discussion Questions
In your own life, what influences have most shaped who you are (family, culture, friends, media)? How does this compare to how Jesus invites us to be shaped by Him?
John 15 emphasizes “abiding” in Jesus. What does abiding look like in your daily rhythms? What makes it difficult?
Think about the “false self” vs. your “true self in Christ.” Where do you sense God might be pruning away habits, lies, or identities that don’t reflect who you truly are?
When have you most clearly experienced God’s grace meeting you at “the end of yourself”?
What are practical ways we can help each other resist “legalistic doing” and instead rest in grace while still engaging spiritual practices?
Apprentices became known by how they reflected their teacher. How can our small group and wider REUNION community better reflect Jesus together?
How might our community embody Jesus’ command to “love one another” (John 15:17) in tangible ways this week?
Application & Practices
This Week’s Practice: Choose one practice of abiding (silence, prayer, worship, confession, obedience, or surrender). Share with the group what you’ll try and check in next week.
Communal Action: Identify one way your group can love and serve others together this month—neighbours, coworkers, or within the church.
Closing Time of Prayer: Emphasize God’s power working in our lives to reform us into Christlikeness.
