WE BELIEVE
Our Beliefs
We know many people land on pages like this when searching for a church that aligns with their values or beliefs.
That makes sense - faith can be deeply personal, and so is the decision to be part of a church community.
As you explore who we are, we hope this page helps answer some of those important questions and gives you a sense of
what it means to belong at REUNION.
We’re a diverse community learning to become apprentices of Jesus with questions, doubts, but always with grace and love.
And when we disagree, yes we disagree, we do our best to stay united around who matters most - Jesus.
We're a post-evangelical community with Anabaptist roots. This means we read the whole Bible through the lens of Jesus (his life, teaching, practices, death, and resurrection)
and as the biblical authority of our lives:
Where the rest of Scripture seems to point somewhere else, we trust what Jesus shows us who God actually is.
If you want to know what God is like, look at Jesus.
- Hebrews 1:3
The Nicene Creed
The Nicene Creed is an ancient church document that Christians have used for almost 2,000 years to root themselves in the faith. It isn’t a perfect document, nor is it part of the Bible.
The creed has its own bias and answers specific questions that were most relevant at the time it was written, but it does a great job of summarizing the core beliefs of the church.
Christians across time and tradition have looked to this and other creeds as a signpost to point us in the right direction, which makes it useful for us as well. This simple, focused creed gives us a great sense of Christian identity. It is wide enough for nearly all historic Christian churches to find themselves at home in. It makes a lot of claims while still leaving space for diversity and mystery.
This is the Nicene Creed,
We believe in one God, the Father almighty,
maker of heaven and earth,
of all things visible and invisible.
And in one Lord Jesus Christ,
the only Son of God, begotten from the Father before all ages,
God from God, Light from Light,
true God from true God, begotten, not made;
of the same essence as the Father.
Through him all things were made.
For us and for our salvation
he came down from heaven;
he became incarnate by the Holy Spirit and the virgin Mary, and was made human.
He was crucified for us under Pontius Pilate;
He suffered and was buried.
The third day he rose again,
according to the Scriptures.
He ascended to heaven
and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again with glory
to judge the living and the dead.
His Kingdom will never end.
And we believe in the Holy Spirit,
the Lord, the giver of life.
He proceeds from the Father and the Son,
and with the Father and the Son
is worshiped and glorified.
He spoke through the prophets.
We believe in one holy catholic
and apostolic church.
We affirm one baptism for the forgiveness of sins.
We look forward to the resurrection of the dead,
and to life in the world to come.
Amen.
But What About…?
Now, when most people read the creed they say something like, “That’s great but what does REUNION believe the about ... (insert hot topic here).”
That is intentional and here’s why.
We break our priorities into three different categories, ranked in order of importance, called The 123s of Theology.

You will find people who attend our church who hold a wide variety of beliefs on many different issues. We strive for unity, not uniformity. We don’t see complete agreement on everything as a litmus test for community. We simply ask that whatever perspective you hold, you act with kindness, grace, and humility, acknowledging that others may see things differently.
